Role Profile
We have an exciting opportunity for a Site Health & Safety Officer to join our team, located at our processing facility in Ballyragget, Co. Kilkenny. This role will report directly into the Site Health and Safety Manager.
Here, you will be responsible for supporting and delivering all activity in relation to Health & Safety across the site, and will drive the development and progress of a positive Health and Safety culture on site, including compliance with standards, policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
1. Committed to embedding a best practice safety culture that is aligned to the organisational needs
2. Anticipate, recognise, evaluate and control workplace hazards with all key stakeholders
3. Ensure organisational safety culture has the capacity to make things go right
4. Relentless in addressing safety hazards in an efficient and effective manner
5. Build close working relationships with all key stakeholders by ensuring a just safety culture
6. Resolute in promoting ‘Zero Harm’ as an espoused organisational safety value
7. Champion an interdependent organisational safety culture
8. Enable achievement of annual Key Performance Indicators on safety
9. Deliver targeted safety induction onboarding for all new employees
10. Proactively engage, challenge and influence colleagues to drive continuous safety improvement
11. Promote safety competency at all levels by targeted learning interventions
12. Ensure emergency preparedness and response continuously meets the needs of the organisation
13. Build highest standard of safety practices for contractors and visitors on site
14. Facilitate timely accident and incident investigations with key stakeholders and ensure lessons learned are acted upon
15. Conduct audits/inspections as per ISO 45001 certification and ensure ongoing compliance
16. Deputise for Safety Manager as required
17. Support site Health and Safety committees
Requirements
18. Degree in Safety or Professional Diploma in Safety desired and or a desire to obtain the required qualifications
19. Chartered Member of IOSH or working towards Chartered Status
20. Minimum of 3 years’ experience of having direct or indirect responsibility for health and safety within a manufacturing environment
21. Practical experience with ISO 45001 standard
22. Competency to design and deliver safety training at all levels within an organisation
23. Theoretical and practical experience of supporting safe behaviour programmes
