The Senior Health and Public Service Manager is responsible for overseeing large-scale health programs and services within the public sector, ensuring that they align with national health objectives and serve community needs effectively. This role combines strategic leadership, policy development, and operational oversight to improve public health outcomes. Senior managers in this position often work with a range of stakeholders, including government bodies, healthcare organizations, and community groups, to develop programs that address pressing health issues and ensure access to quality services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Planning and Program Development:
1. Lead the planning and development of public health programs and initiatives to address community health needs.
2. Establish long-term goals for health services and ensure alignment with government health objectives and policies.
3. Conduct needs assessments and use data analytics to identify health trends, risks, and gaps in service provision.
2. Leadership and Policy Implementation:
1. Drive the implementation of health policies, ensuring that they are effectively translated into practice across services.
2. Provide leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary teams, including program managers, public health officers, and administrative staff.
3. Ensure compliance with health regulations, safety standards, and legal requirements across all operations.
3. Operational Management and Service Quality:
1. Oversee the delivery of services to maintain high standards of care and operational efficiency.
2. Implement quality assurance and risk management processes to safeguard patient and public safety.
3. Use performance metrics to monitor service delivery, addressing any operational issues or inefficiencies proactively.
4. Financial and Resource Management:
1. Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of public funds and resources.
2. Prepare financial reports, monitor spending, and implement strategies to optimize funding and resource allocation.
3. Seek out additional funding sources, including grants and partnerships, to support public health initiatives.
5. Stakeholder Engagement and Public Relations:
1. Serve as a liaison between the organization, government agencies, community groups, and other stakeholders.
2. Communicate health priorities, programs, and outcomes to the public, ensuring transparency and building trust.
3. Represent the organization at public forums, conferences, and community events to advocate for public health initiatives.
6. Data Analysis and Reporting:
1. Lead data collection, analysis, and reporting on public health indicators and program outcomes.
2. Use insights from data to refine programs, set future priorities, and report on public health goals and achievements.
3. Prepare and present reports for senior government officials and stakeholders on the effectiveness and impact of health initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Education: Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, or a related field.
2. Experience: Extensive experience in public health or health services management, with demonstrated success in strategic leadership.
