University of Galway IT Security Analysts are responsible for protecting the University's systems, networks, endpoints and data from a wide range of IT security threats.
The postholder will maintain day-to-day Cybersecurity operations within the University as well as developing and operationalising new solutions in alignment with the overall IT Security Strategy for the University to provide a robust security posture.
He/she will work with the external Security Operations Centre (SOC) to monitor the IT infrastructure and react to security alerts as they are flagged by the SOC.
The Security Analyst will work together with service owners to ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.
The IT Security Analyst needs to understand the overall threat landscape the University is working within, what its current capabilities and vulnerabilities are and how these need to be addressed to keep the University and its data safe.
The postholder will also be responsible for evaluating and implementing the most appropriate defensive technologies and working with peers across the sector to leverage efficiencies and learning from best practice.
