Buyer - Cork
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to join a leading food company. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the procurement of goods and services to ensure the business has the necessary supplies to operate efficiently. The ideal candidate will have experience in procurement within the food industry and possess strong negotiation, communication, and organisational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
* Identify and source food products and raw materials required for the business, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to secure the best pricing, terms, and service levels. Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues as needed.
* Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms with suppliers to maximize value and ensure competitive pricing for the company.
* Work closely with inventory and operations teams to manage stock levels, monitor trends, and ensure efficient product availability.
* Keep up to date with market trends, supplier innovations, and emerging product lines to ensure the company stays competitive in the market.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., logistics, production, quality control) to coordinate procurement activities and support operational needs.
Key Requirements:
* Minimum 3 years of experience in a procurement or buying role, preferably within the food industry. A background or interest in food product sourcing or food manufacturing processes.
* Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Familiarity with food industry regulations, food safety standards, and supply chain management.
* A relevant qualification in business, procurement, supply chain management, or a related field is advantageous.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and experience with procurement software or ERP systems.
