Ensure the safety management system in implemented in full on site by all parties reporting to the safety manager failure to do so
Monitor all aspects of safety, health and welfare in the project/site they are responsible for.
Advise the Site management on the implementation of safety management system.
Advise management on Laws and Regulations which impinge on company activities.
Ensure safety systems of work are in place (RAMS) for all activities ensuring that the methods and systems of work are safe, also that the necessary procedures to achieve work are practical, published and applied.
Ensure strict adherence to site rules by all contractors.
Carry out weekly site inspections document findings for management.
Advise on and monitor statutory tests on plant and equipment.
Provide for Site Managers / Supervisors, the Incident Notification forms and other statutory forms for each site and monitor its use.
Investigate and report on accidents / dangerous occurrences or near misses on sites and provide regular reports to the safety manager.
Monitor compliance with Personal Protective Equipment policy and on type of protective equipment / clothing.
Advise the Project manager and safety manager on action where Improvement, Prohibition Notices or Prohibition Orders have been served on the company.
Investigate any reportable accident and advise the Project Manager and Head of health & Safety on position regarding the injured party, potential claims, insurance or HSA implications.
Liaise with all designated Safety Representatives on matters relating to Safety, Health and Welfare.
Consult with the Health and Safety Authority when.
Meet the HSA Inspector on visits to the company workplace.
Ensure that first aid boxes are provided and maintained properly.
Arrange for training of suitable employees in first aid.
Prepare regular reports and audits on the management of safety and health in the company and on performance in endeavouring to reduce the number of accidents and improving safety efficiency on sites.
