JOB PURPOSE: To manage, organise, and co-ordinate the Physiotherapy ED and Minor Injury Service both at the Mater Hospital campus and Smithfield Rapid Injury Clinic site, along with other senior staff in the area.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To lead a specialist area of clinical expertise and propose service changes which may impact on the wider MDT and ensure safe delivery of a quality service in co-operation with the physiotherapist manager.
2. To provide leadership and operational management for the physiotherapy ED and minor injury service and for development of the service and team especially in terms of clinical governance.
3. The Physiotherapist will work as first contact practitioner at the most advanced level in physiotherapy practice in line with their competency level; triaging, diagnosing and managing patients with diverse presentations and highly complex physical and psychological conditions in the musculoskeletal field.
4. To lead on service development, evidence-based practice, audit, risk assessment, and implementation of change as required.
5. To work closely with clinical specialist physiotherapists, advanced practitioners, and medical team in Virtual Fracture Clinic for improving patient’s pathway of care.
6. To work closely with ED Consultants, Consultant Geriatricians, and Advanced Nurse Practitioners in the Silver Trauma Clinic for improving patient’s pathway of care.
7. To support the ED Consultants, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, NCHD’s, Clinical Specialists, and other highly skilled specialists, as required.
8. To lead on development of the physiotherapy team and support education and training of senior, basic grade.
