Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
This role involves designing, developing, refining, and evaluating mechanical components assemblies or subsystems for medical devices and implants. You will work with concurrent engineering and rapid prototyping techniques to reduce product time to market while adhering to project deadlines and product costs.
Responsibilities:
* Develop medical device products from concept to production.
* Participate in multifunctional product development teams and liaise with marketing for new concepts.
* Evaluate and optimize concepts for mechanical function and manufacturability.
* Determine design approaches and parameters, conduct feasibility studies, and analyze equipment.
* Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
* Liaise with suppliers, manufacturing engineering, and operations to resolve issues and optimize design.
* Lead and contribute significantly in efforts to identify product requirements and develop full product design documentation.
* Support investigation and root cause analysis of customer complaints.
* Participate in or lead CAPA projects and provide design support to Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Engineering.
* Provide design and product application support for operations engineering cost reduction projects.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Materials Science with a minimum of 2 years' experience.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to express ideas effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
* Innovative thinker with the ability to envision new ways to do things.
* Execute complex problem-solving techniques related to design/technical issues.
* Good understanding of statistical tools and validation/verification techniques.
* Ability to plan, organize, and implement multiple concurrent tasks.
* Familiarity with human anatomy and common surgical procedures is ideal.
* Fluent in 3D CAD and good working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis tools.
