NWC focuses on providing asset-based financing solutions for its global client base across the US, Europe, and Australia. Nearwater Capital is expanding its business and is seeking an organized and experienced Operations Resource for its businesses located in the heart of Dublin City, based in One Georges Quay Plaza, 10th floor.
Role / Job Description
In this Operations role, you will be an integral part of a team dedicated to Nearwater Capital’s businesses. You will serve as the primary point of contact for all operational queries from Nearwater’s European client base. This role involves close interaction with clients and internal collaboration across the Business, Middle Office, and Operations teams. You will be responsible for executing the trade settlement process, with a particular focus on Total Return Swaps (TRS) and Repurchase Transactions. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying opportunities to reduce risk through continuous evaluation of our controls, necessitating coordination with our third-party custodian bank, counterparties, and trading teams.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
* Serve as the primary point of contact for client operational queries, resolving issues related to unaffirmed/unmatched trades, fails, static data, and other operational items.
* Management of client trade activity, liaising with the desk and our clients to resolve any issues.
* Manage trade handling for swaps and cash security hedges, including trade capture/allocation, trade exception clearance, and resolving connectivity issues with our technology partners.
* Timely and accurate processing of all trades, trade amendments, trade confirmation, and static data updates.
* Provide support to Front Office Sales and Trading around lifecycle management.
* Responsible for the timely investigation and clearing of all open reconciliation items.
* Assist with project initiatives designed to improve and streamline our existing processes.
* Ensure accurate trading positions within the trade booking system by confirming and correcting any discrepancies.
* Conduct various control reconciliations to ensure trading positions are accurate, from booking systems to admin/custody reconciliations.
* Liaise with Risk teams to escalate timely, open exposure from disputes, settlement fails, and open margin calls.
* Collect delivery instructions from Custodian Banks and ensure that they are set up internally.
* Support the maintenance of a culture and environment where processes, risks, and controls are continuously monitored, ensuring timely escalation of potential risks.
* Providing operational support to our US-based team.
Skills and Experience:
* 5+ years of direct experience in financial services performing derivatives operations activities, Middle Office, or Custody of Funds Administration.
* Demonstrated operational expertise and experience in pre and post settlement processing, margin process, cash/stock reconciliations, trade support, static data management, and corporate actions.
* Product knowledge and understanding of Cash Equity and Equity Swaps, and derivatives processing desirable.
* Strong knowledge of financial markets, trade lifecycle, and industry technology (AcadiaSoft, Markit, Bloomberg).
* Highly motivated and proactive individual who effectively manages multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
* Proven ability to thrive in structured, high-volume, high-risk, time-sensitive, and demanding environments.
* Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with confidence in hosting and leading conference calls.
* Capable of collaborating effectively within a team environment and excelling when working independently.
