Key job responsibilities
Amazon is looking for best-in-class Network Engineers to drive the development, sustainability, and operations of our Cloud Computing networks. With Amazon Web Services (http://aws.amazon.com), our goal is to become “The Infrastructure Platform” to the world. Our customers demand the highest quality and reliability and challenge us to be better, faster, and cheaper every day.
In this role, you will work on a team of highly skilled Network Engineers responsible for the end-to-end ownership of our commodity datacenter networks. This includes the design/architecture, definition and enforcement of standards, security, sustainability/scalability, deployment, and operations of our current and next generation networks.
Our ideal candidate is highly autonomous, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, has a track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time, and possesses a strong background in Ethernet and IP networks. The desire and ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment is essential.
1. Be responsible for deploying network infrastructure across all of our network fabrics that supports the Amazon Retail Service, Kindle, Payments and multiple AWS services.
2. Deploy, scale and automate our network across multiple global datacenters. This includes existing footprints and greenfield locations.
3. Drive scaling of current network designs to meet the demand of our customers.
4. Create simple, repetitive deployment processes that increase both velocity and quality.
5. Work closely with our internal customers on designs/solutions; bringing those designs/solutions from concept to production.
6. Create and update our network standards and ensure that the network is deployed to these standards.
7. Create and implement changes on the network.
8. Work closely with our automation teams in defining the tools that allow us to scale at unprecedented volume.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
2. 3+ years experience network troubleshooting.
3. 2+ year of professional development experience with Python or similar tool for network automation scripting
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Excellent network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills
2. Good working knowledge of IP networking fundamentals
3. Strong Unix skills and the ability to script/program
4. Knowledge of L2 switching and L3 routing
