Location of Post: Peamount Healthcare, Newcastle, Co. Dublin
Details of Service: Peamount Healthcare is an independent voluntary organization that provides a range of high-quality health and social care services. We help people return home after a serious illness, provide safe and homely residential care, and support people to live as independently as possible in the community.
Reporting Relationship: Household Manager
Purpose of Post: Household staff are members of the ward team, working with other ward staff to assist patients and ensure smooth and safe functioning in all areas of the ward. Duties include kitchen and ward responsibilities.
Eligibility Criteria:
The successful candidate will be expected to meet the following:
1. Good general standard of education
2. Good communication skills both written and verbal
3. Ability to work as part of a team
4. Commitment to providing a clean, safe environment for patients
5. Previous cleaning experience
Ward Duties:
Maintain a clean hygienic ward, including:
1. Cleaning toilets and bathrooms
2. Emptying bins
3. Assisting in the kitchen
4. Washing down bed frames
5. High dusting and washing walls/skirting boards
6. Cleaning kitchen presses and lockers
7. Using machinery to wash floors
8. Assisting with discharge cleaning
This job is flexible and other duties may arise at the discretion of the Clinical Nurse Manager.

3. Previous cleaning experience
Terms & Conditions of Employment:
This post is a relief post. Hours are subject to availability. The post is pensionable. A panel may be created from which permanent and specified purpose vacancies may be filled.
Remuneration:
Remuneration is in accordance with the salary scale approved by the Department of Health.
Working Week:
The allocation of hours will be at the discretion of the Department Head.
Health & Safety:
All duties must be performed in accordance with the hospital health and safety policy.
Garda Vetting:
Peamount Healthcare will carry out Garda vetting on all new employees.
Health Assessment:
Prior to commencing in this role, a health status declaration will be required.
References:
Peamount Healthcare will seek up to two written references from previous employers.
