Environmental Health and Safety Leader
This is a 12 month contract position, working 4 days onsite in a hybrid arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor Occupational Health & Safety Legislation and developments to ensure the organisation remains up to date. Liaise with Corporate OSH, the Health and Safety Authority Officers and others as required.
* Comply with the requirements of 'competent person' as per the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005, having sufficient training, experience and knowledge appropriate to the work requirements.
* Schedule and lead site EHS meetings and follow through on assigned actions to completion.
* Maintain accurate records and analysis data on accidents, reports etc. for Management and outside agencies.
* Provide leadership and guidance to investigate near misses, incidents and accidents to discover root causes and prevent re-occurrence.
* Coordinate the preparation, compilation and review of the Safety Statement.
* Identify workplace hazards and assess risks, advise management on control measures to eliminate, minimise or control these hazards.
* Conduct regular announced and unannounced Safety Inspections to ensure compliance with the Safety Statement. Maintain records and assist in planning corrective action.
* Liaise closely with those responsible for Emergency Procedures to prevent fire and safe evacuation in emergency situations.
Environmental:
* Manage the site's environmental legal register and identify areas of non-conformity with current or pending legislation.
* Prepare and implement measurable environmental programmes for energy, water, materials, air, noise and waste. Align programmes with Corporate expectations and metrics.
* Maintain ISO14000 system using the current Corporate management database. Prepare transition to new Corporate database system. Update and maintain the site's policy, aspects and impacts register.
* Maintain and establish metrics to track environmental performance and guide future projects for continuous improvement.
* Engage all associates in environmental compliance and improvement through ongoing communication of goals.
Requirements:
* A minimum of 4 years work experience in a similar role/environment.
* A suitable 3rd level qualification in Environmental, Safety, Health and Welfare.
