Key Responsibilities
1. Monthly Financial Reporting:
* Manage the month-end process and timetable to meet reporting deadlines.
* Prepare consolidated month-end accounts and a reporting pack, including the profit and loss statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and key performance indicators.
* Investigate variances versus budget and prior year, providing commentaries on the results.
* Implement robust procedures to ensure accuracy of accruals and reported figures.
* Develop measures to speed up the reporting timeline.
2. Reconciliations and Internal Controls:
* Ensure suitable internal control systems, authorisation controls, and reconciliations are maintained and reviewed.
* Review and authorise bank payments, verifying that correct approvals have been obtained.
* Identify and implement ongoing process improvements.
* Ensure accounts are prepared in accordance with accounting standards.
* Guarantee tax, audit, and statutory compliance.
* Maintain and update the Accounting software and chart of accounts.
3. Audit, Tax, and Compliance:
* Organise the external audit timetable with auditors.
* Manage the audit work programme and audit queries, ensuring all requests are addressed in a timely manner.
* Implement internal control recommendations.
* Prepare the corporation tax computation and filing.
* Prepare final statutory accounts for submission.
4. Working Capital/Cash Flow Management:
* Ensure cash is prioritised to meet payroll, supplier, tax, loan, and other payment commitments.
* Maintain a weekly cash flow forecast to plan for future cash flows.
5. Process Improvement:
* Review the day-to-day operation of the finance function and seek to eliminate inefficiencies.
* Expand knowledge of group CRM and Finance systems to further integrate and automate financial processes.
* Review and update financial policies and procedures, developing new ones as necessary.
6. Management of the Finance Team:
* Manage AP, AR, and billing teams, ensuring best practice is implemented.
* Performance management and review of KPIs.
