Postdoctoral Researcher
We are seeking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher to join the KK Lab in the School of Pharmacy & Biomolecular Sciences/Tissue Engineering Research Group at RCSI.
The successful applicant will work primarily on an IRC-SFI funded project entitled Nano-Engineered Biomaterial Delivery System with Controlled Strontium Release as a Reparative Treatment Strategy for Osteoporotic Vertebral Bone.
Osteoporosis is the most prevalent metabolic bone disease in the world. Osteoporotic vertebral fractures (OVFs) are a common complication of osteoporosis and currently there is no reparative treatment available. This project proposes to develop the first of its kind therapeutic injectable technology to restore structural integrity and function in disease-damaged vertebrae.
The aim of the project is to investigate a therapeutic strategy that targets impaired bone remodelling to promote regeneration through developing an injectable biomaterial that can fill porous vertebral bone, harden within the body for load-bearing applications, and can deliver therapeutics to regenerate bone and treat OVFs.
