Job Title: Assistant Director of Nursing/Person in Charge
The Royal Hospital Donnybrook is a 178 bedded hospital providing Post-Acute, Stroke Rehabilitation, Neurorehabilitation and General Rehabilitation services, Day Hospital services, Respite and Residential Care services to adults.
Purpose of the Post:
The role of the Assistant Director of Nursing / Person in Charge is to support the Director of Nursing in promoting excellence in clinical care and practice across the hospital. To provide professional leadership and advice while managing all aspects of nursing services.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
* Ensure adherence to standards and guidelines relating to professional nursing practice and behaviour in accordance with NMBI
* Provide direct support and assistance to management in implementing the National Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland, 2016
* Develop and lead out on Quality, Safety and Risk Systems within Residential Services
* Act as Person in Charge for RHD Residential Services and liaise with HIQA in regards to all regulatory matters as appropriate
* Take a lead role in the Nursing Department in developing, implementing and evaluating policy documents for clinical practice, education and professional standards
* Accept responsibility for own professional development and be aware of current trends and strategies in nursing and healthcare
* Formulate, implement and evaluate service plans in co-operation with multi-disciplinary teams
* Evaluate the systems of nursing care delivery and recommend changes in nursing procedures, practices and policies in order to reflect an evidence based practice approach to service delivery
* Be actively involved in and support continuous quality improvement initiatives including clinical audit and complaints management
