Skills and attributesRegistration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical PractitionersFellow experienceDescriptionPurpose of role: The Consultant Paediatrician post will work alongside the existing consultant General Paediatricians to further advance the development of the Department of General Paediatrics across the Children's Health Ireland sites.
This role will also work with colleagues cross city to develop the departments at the new paediatric Outpatients and Urgent Care Centres at Connolly and Tallaght.
The appointment of additional consultant general paediatricians will allow for planning and implementing new models of care including rapid access clinics and GP liaison services and new models of inpatient care including the consultant of the week model, in line with the National Model of Care, once a sufficient number of paediatricians have been appointed.
This post will continue to support the introduction of additional capacity for the provision of outpatient clinics, improving access for patients to the most appropriate clinician.
This post will continue to support the development of the cross-city Department of General Paediatrics, continuous quality improvement with the department and improved access for patients.
The appointee will work closely with sub-specialty consultant colleagues across the five sites and with members of the multidisciplinary team to maximise patient care and outcomes.
