Mercer's Medical Centre is a purpose-built Group Practice which is part of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
The practice is based in the old Mercer's Hospital in the heart of Dublin's south inner city.
The Centre is comprised of a General Practitioner medical service and a Travel Health service.
At present, the current staff complement is:
9 General Practitioners1 Advanced Nurse PractitionerThe practice has a complex clinical profile with responsibilities to regular patients (both GMS and private), occupational medicine and travel health contracts, and medical services to staff and students of RCSI.
The objective of this post is to provide clinical and administrative support to the Department and to contribute to its development.
Specifically, the duties of the post are: All general practice nursing duties including but not limited to: phlebotomy, immunisations, injections, dressings, childhood vaccinations, cervical smears, swabs, ear lavages, ECGs, audiograms.Responsibility for the efficient running of the RCSI Student Vaccination Programme, including administering vaccines, phlebotomy, administration, monitoring and following up on results, and scheduling follow up appointments.Assisting with other nursing duties, including occupational health duties as required.Working closely with all colleagues in the Department to form a cohesive and effective team.Liaising with all internal and external stakeholders and providing them with relevant information as requested.Undergoing programmes of training & development as may be required from time to time.Complying with statutory legislation and Department rules and requirements in furtherance of your own and general staff welfare and safety.Representing the best interests of Mercer's Medical Centre/RCSI at all times.Performing such other duties as may be requested from time to time.Qualifications: Post graduate nursing experience.Performs to the highest personal and professional clinical standards.Be fully registered with An Bord Altranais and have current clinical indemnity.The successful candidate should demonstrate:
Phlebotomy skills are essential.Strong organisational skills with the ability to focus on and produce results and prioritise objectives.An effective communication style appropriate to audience and situation.Ability to make decisions and meet deadlines.Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite and word processing skills.The ability to work on one's own initiative as well as in a team environment.Flexibility to work irregular hours on occasion.Full training and mentorship will be provided in this role.
