Environmental Health and Safety Manager I
At Boston Scientific, we're seeking a skilled professional to join our team as an Environmental Health and Safety Manager I on a defined term basis (18 months).
Job Purpose:
The successful candidate will advise and guide the company, demonstrating leadership on EH&S matters to ensure the safety and health of the workforce, and the protection of the environment. Ensuring the company is aware of, and complies with applicable environmental, health and safety legislative and other requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Serve as contact for regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
2. Develop and maintain knowledge of regulations governing health and safety systems, including ISO 45001.
3. Lead and develop EHS specialists in a high-performance, matrixed, and results-oriented organisation.
4. Inspire and motivate employees & contractors across all areas of the site.
5. Ensure Facilities projects are managed in accordance with Construction Regulations.
6. Provide strategic direction on initiatives enhancing the EH&S mission.
7. Liaise with senior leadership to identify environmental, health, and safety objectives for the site.
8. Create a multi-year strategic plan to deliver zero carbon emissions from the BSC Galway site.
9. Direct and manage Occupational Health programme, liaising closely with HR and other stakeholder functions.
10. Lead and coordinate EH&S related emergency situations, including governance of the emergency response system for Sterilization.
11. Sustain effective safety risk management process with emphasis on proper controls around hazardous materials & electrical systems.
12. Establish governance management of employee case litigation and settlement.
13. Collaborate with EH&S counterparts to leverage resources and programs reducing costs and improving performance.
Education & Experience:
1. Level 8 Honours Bachelor Degree (240 credits) in Occupational Health & Safety or relevant discipline with 10+ years experience.
2. Degree or Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health & Safety highly desirable.
3. Appropriate professional certifications in related fields preferred i.e. CMIOSH.
4. Knowledgeable of legislative requirements, and systems needed to implement sound EH&S practice.
5. 5+ years management experience in leading a team of EH&S specialists.
6. Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
7. Ability to work autonomously & manage production related EH&S work.
