Principal Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Responsible for the effective supervision of telephonist staff under your remit to ensure the effective running of hospital services. Responsible for ensuring the department is adequately resourced to provide a 24-hour, 7-day a week service, through effective rostering of staff in line. Arranging appropriate cover in the event of sick leave, annual leave, maternity leave, etc. Allocating duties to the reception staff to ensure that the service is provided in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
Ensuring all staff assigned to the area are trained in all aspects of the job of reception/telephony. Ensuring that all calls are answered, screened and forwarded as appropriate. Ensuing that all persons arriving at the main reception desk are greeted on arrival and where required, directed to the appropriate person or area. Ensuring that the operation of the switchboard and bleep system is appropriately maintained to ensure ensuring the smooth running of the reception area.
