The Role:
GMC Utilities Group is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Planning Engineer to support our operations by managing planning applications, road closures, and customer communications. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating with local authorities, emergency services, and transport providers to ensure smooth project execution while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
* Handle UE Escalations and manage customer complaints efficiently.
* Process T1 applications and liaise with relevant stakeholders for approvals.
* Manage road closure applications, ensuring compliance with local authority regulations.
* Communicate effectively with Dublin Bus and Go-Ahead regarding traffic disruptions.
* Organize and coordinate Variable Message Signs (VMS) for public notifications.
* Submit planning applications and ensure all necessary documentation is completed.
* Arrange indemnities as required for works and road closures.
* Coordinate with customer care teams to facilitate carding for affected residents.
* Notify blue light services (emergency services) about planned works and disruptions.
* Draft directional and narrative statements for County Councils (CoCo) on road closures, including descriptions and press release content for public information.
The Candidate: Required Experience and Competencies:
* Full clean driver's license essential.
* A qualification in engineering or equivalent is desirable.
* Civils, drainage, or utilities (water & electricity) experience.
* Previous experience and the ability to read designs.
* Commercially aware of project costs.
* Experience with site activities and multiple teams.
* Good knowledge of HSQE requirements.
* Good knowledge of ground support systems.
* Confident, motivated and can work independently as well as part of a team.
* Ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
* Time management abilities to meet targets.
* Good communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
* Integrity and respect for confidentiality and privacy.
