We are looking for a highly skilled Electrical Commissioning Engineer to lead the commissioning of medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, protection relays, power quality meters, high-voltage cables, and HMI/supervision systems. This role demands expertise in relay programming, system testing, and compliance with industry standards, ensuring the seamless execution of power infrastructure projects.
For this role you need to be based in Ireland and legally allowed to work here.
Key Responsibilities:
* Commission medium voltage switchgear, current and voltage transformers, Rogowski coils, distribution and power transformers, protection relays, power quality meters, and high-voltage cables.
* Program and test relay I/O, settings, and logic to ensure optimal system performance.
* Review tender, design, construction, and as-built drawings to maintain accurate records and support quality control.
* Identify and communicate critical commissioning requirements, including discrimination studies and other technical assessments.
* Develop and implement testing and commissioning procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
* Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Cold Commissioning, and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
* Act as a key representative on-site, liaising with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and third parties to ensure safe, efficient, and timely project execution.
* Supervise, witness, and approve/reject pre-commissioning and test procedures/results on behalf of the client.
* Oversee documentation review, sign-off, and handover while maintaining comprehensive commissioning records.
* Report and address commissioning non-conformance's and contribute to incident investigations and customer complaints when required.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
* Proven experience in high-voltage (HV) commissioning and electrical protection systems.
* Strong problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations.
* Solid understanding of Protection, Automation, and Control Systems.
* Proficiency in industry-standard software tools.
* Experience with electrical commissioning equipment and processes.
* Excellent attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
