Job Brief
The successful applicant will deliver on the vision for the person they are supporting. They will work directly with an individual, supporting them to gain valued social roles in their lives and participate in meaningful creative activities through developing appropriate supports. They will also advocate on behalf of the individual with regard to their needs and preferences and support the development of an Individual Plan.
Candidate Requirements
* Experience in managing epilepsy is essential.
* A knowledge of Autism is desirable.
* Experience of working in an autism-informed or neuro-diverse manner is required.
* Experience working in a person-centered manner is necessary.
* Facilitating and supporting people who have high and/or complex needs is a key requirement.
* A genuine understanding and interest in working alongside people to effect positive opportunities and change in their lives in a meaningful way is essential.
* The ability to listen, see and respectfully advocate for and on behalf of the individual with regard to their needs, preferences, rights and dreams is required.
* Excellent communication skills and a clear understanding of teamwork with motivation to deliver high-quality facilitation are essential.
* Self-motivation and the ability to manage time effectively are necessary.
* A working knowledge of New Directions standards and regulations is desirable.
* Good IT skills are preferred.
* Flexibility is required to respond to service demands as necessary.
Qualification Details
No minimum level is required for the Social Care Assistant position.
Other Duties Involved
* Contribute to and participate in the local service planning process and the creative development and ongoing changing needs of the service.
* Provide personal care and support to service users where required.
* Ensure a safe place of work, incorporating Western Care Association's Dignity at Work Policy and Health & Safety requirements.
* Promote safety in all environments, in line with the Association's practices.
* Use positive approaches to support people who may have challenging behavior in line with Organisational practice.
Other Requirements
* A full driver's license is essential.
* All applicants will be subject to Irish Garda Vetting and Reference checks.
* All applicants from countries outside the E.U. will be required to provide relevant work authorization to take up employment in Republic of Ireland. This must be submitted along with their application.
* All applicants will be required to access Overseas Police Clearance if they have lived outside of the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland more than six months since the age of 18 years.
Salary Scale
The Social Care Assistant Pay Scale is €30,288-€42,034 per annum, based on full-time working hours (39 hours per week).
