The opportunity
We are looking for high-performing, innovative and enthusiastic climate change and sustainability specialists to join our growing team of sustainable business professionals who are building a better working world by helping global organisations to identify, measure, deliver and report on the sustainable business issues which are most relevant to create long-term value. Our Climate Change and Sustainability Services practice helps clients to build more sustainable and profitable enterprises by addressing their environmental and social challenges.
Your key responsibilities
This role will place you at the heart of a high-energy, agile team that is committed to helping clients build long-term sustainable businesses. This opportunity will enable you to work with leading organisations at a senior level to deliver better outcomes on some of the world’s most pressing climate risk issues. You will interact with EY colleagues globally and work across our different sectors and business activities.
Skills and attributes for success
We are looking for individuals who have a passion for helping clients to make their businesses future proof and more sustainable in an ever-changing world where doing business is increasingly shaped by social purpose; climate change; effective governance, innovation, and the creation of long-term value. You will be experienced in helping organisations to understand and respond to the impact of climate change on operations and strategy. You will be engaging with senior stakeholders on climate related topics as they navigate both the business challenges and opportunities.
To qualify for the role you must have
* Significant experience in helping clients to better understand, measure, quantify and articulate the how climate related matters underpin and influence how an organisation creates long-term value for investors and other stakeholders.
* Experience advising clients on climate and environmental risk issues at an operational and strategic level.
* A deep understanding of the links between climate change, business risk and value creation.
* Knowledge and experience of business strategy and operations, with a strong commercial background and experience in the field of social and environmental impact measurement and valuation.
* Ability to learn and quickly understand new concepts outside area of expertise.
* Ability to think strategically but also identify, develop and implement practical solutions.
* Strong technical, quantitative and analytical skills and the ability to apply to solve new problems.
* Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with excellent written and verbal communication.
* Ability to network effectively within large organisations and build relationships with individuals and clients.
* Ability to contribute to new business development by highlighting potential opportunities for new engagements and responding to tenders.
* Ability to develop team members by sharing knowledge and coaching.
Ideally you’ll also have
We are looking for individuals from varied backgrounds, but it would be advantageous for you to have many of the experiences below:
* A strong understanding of how investors and analysts review and use ESG information to inform decision making.
* An understanding of how Culture, Diversity and Inclusion plays a critical role in building sustainable business.
* Exposure to environmental accounting and/or regulatory reporting.
* Exposure to finance, strategy and communications functions at corporate institutions – e.g. strategy, policy, procedures and controls, or an understanding of the policies, procedures and controls needed to support non-financial reporting.
