RECRUITMENT – CLERK OF WORKS
HD McKay continue to grow in line with our strategic plan and now have an opportunity for a Clerk of Works. HD McKay is a vibrant multi-disciplinary consultancy practice of Architects, Civil, Structural and Fire Engineers. Some of our senior technical team members have worldwide experience and have worked on prestigious projects from Formula 1 racetracks, hospitals, educational facilities, multiple residential developments, and passive design certified developments to name a few.
With over 20 years of experience in engineering and construction projects, we provide professional services to Businesses, Corporations, Local Authorities, Public Bodies, Solicitors, and Individuals on a range of Commercial, Industrial and Domestic projects.
We are seeking well-motivated, enthusiastic individuals to join our dynamic team. Due to the large volume of domestic building projects currently on site we have the following position available:
Clerk of Works
We need an individual who:
* Is self-motivated, driven, and successful, with highly developed planning & organisational skills and a flexible attitude.
* Has excellent attention to detail.
* Can ensure the projects we design are completed to the highest of standards in accordance with the relevant Statutory Regulations.
* Is client & quality-focused, continuously improvement-minded with fresh ideas to improve current work systems.
* Can work well in a team environment.
* Is focused on the short and long-term profitability and strategic growth of the Company.
* Provides support to our in-house design team members across a wide range of Building, Civil, Architectural & Structural Engineering projects in the construction oversight of their project designs.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
The candidate must:
1. Hold a relevant third-level qualification in a construction-related discipline or hold an equivalent professional qualification;
2. Or hold a National Certificate/National Diploma in Construction Studies or Civil Engineering issued by the National Council for Education Awards/Further Education Training Awards Council;
3. Or in the case of an office involving building construction work – as an alternative to the qualification at (a) – be a member of the Institute of Clerk of Works in Ireland, or possess a full course certificate in building issued by the Technical Instruction Branch of the Department of Education or a first-class Technological Certificate (Intermediate Stage) or a Technological Certificate (Advanced Stage) issued by the Department of Education or have had satisfactory supervisory experience of building work, with particular reference to domestic housing projects.
Requirements:
* Minimum 7 years’ experience working on building projects at senior level or supervisory capacity.
* Expertise in monitoring quality standards and health and safety regulations.
* Thorough working knowledge of the Building Control (Amendment) Regulations 2014.
* Have significant knowledge of standard construction details of domestic buildings extending to modern methods of construction being desirable.
* Have proven project delivery of building or civil engineering projects.
* Be capable of writing clear and concise reports, keeping work records, measuring and recording all variations from contract and reading drawings and specifications.
* Have excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients, contractors and design teams.
* Proven ability to identify and address construction issues proactively and knowledgably, ensuring quality control.
* Have a satisfactory knowledge of the surveying, levelling and setting out of works.
* Have satisfactory P.C. skills.
* Hold a current Full Driving Licence.
Each candidate must satisfy HD McKay that they have adequate experience of a type which would render them suitable to perform satisfactorily the duties Clerk of Works particularly relating to domestic building construction.
Desirable:
* Possess strong IT skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
* Development and maintaining CRM systems.
* Possess excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to organise, complete and assign tasks.
* At all times to be reliable, responsible, and dependable working in a highly professional manner fulfilling all obligations on time.
* Ability to create and maintain accurate/accessible and organised documentation.
* Ability to work independently & as part of a team: capable of taking initiative and working efficiently both independently and collaboratively with others.
* Be focused and productive while handling multiple projects, tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
