We are in search of a seasoned Software Engineer specializing in Code Governance and Design who has extensive experience in designing, developing, and maintaining complex applications, with a focus on ensuring the development of high-quality code. As a key member of our team, you will report to the WBA Technology Center Technical Design Lead and collaborate within the global organization. We are looking for an individual with high motivation and drive to oversee and uphold coding standards, design principles, and secure secure code across our diverse product portfolio
In the position of Code Governance and Design Specialist, you will serve as a key code design authority for the WBA Technology Center team. Your responsibilities will include close collaboration with technology and business teams to establish well-considered design patterns and code, placing a strong emphasis on quality, simplicity, maintainability, and performance.
This is a hybrid position based in our Dublin 2 offices.
Job Description
What you will do:
1. Lead the development and enforcement of coding standards, design patterns, and architectural guidelines to ensure maintainable, scalable, and high-quality software products.
2. Provide expert guidance to development teams in code reviews, offering constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to established coding and design principles.
3. Influence and mentor developers to continuously improve coding practices and design skills, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
4. Drive the identification and adoption of emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance the development process and product quality.
5. Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, articulating the rationale behind coding and design decisions, advocating for best practices, and driving consensus.
6. Develop and maintain code design standards, guidelines, and processes across the product portfolio.
7. Drive focus on consistent code quality and development standards across the product portfolio.
8. Support the Technical Design Lead in improving code security and compliance by conducting security reviews for code, infrastructure, and data.
9. Support the Technical Design Lead in auditing services and producing reports on their quality and performance.
10. Collaborate with development teams to improve code quality, security, and compliance.
11. Ensure that the code design has the principles of uniformity, simplicity, versatility, and stability.
12. Conduct design reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and organizational guidelines.
13. Maintain documentation related to code standards, processes, and best practices.
14. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the code development process.
15. Drive efficiencies through software improvement and root cause analysis, resulting in service delivery, maturity, and scalability.
16. Identify opportunities and drive the adoption and implementation of automation capabilities to improve code quality and health.
17. Work with the development team to review existing code quality and validate the criteria and standards used for quality checks, ensuring the right usage of the current code analysis tool.

23. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
24. Minimum of 5 years of experience in enterprise software development, preferably with a focus on code governance, design principles and architecture design.
25. Proven record of accomplishment in conducting comprehensive software architecture code reviews and testing.
26. Strong knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile) and experience collaborating within cross-functional teams.
27. Bias for action with a self-starter mindset
28. An understanding of software architecture, design patterns and coding practices with programming languages and technologies.
29. A keen eye for detail and ability to identify code discrepancies and security vulnerabilities.

30. Multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Python, etc.) and a strong understanding of their associated ecosystems.
31. Working with code quality tools, such as SonarQube, Veracode, SQL Enlight, or any related tool that helps analyse source code and provides reports on code quality.
