The post of CNM/CMM 2 IT has a pivotal role in compiling, analysing and reporting data to underpin and support service planning, co-ordinating, and managing activity and resources within the Women & Children Services.
· The person holding this post is required to support the principle that the care of the patient comes first at all times and will approach their work with the flexibility and enthusiasm necessary to make this principle a reality for every patient to the greatest possible degree.
· Maintain throughout the hospital awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all hospital activities.

Post Specific Responsibilities The CNM/CMM2 will:
Manage the Maternity IT system in all of its versions Provide IT education to the end user (clinical, midwifery and other support personnel) Provide leadership on the implementation and management of all new clinical systems in the Womens and Childrens Clinical Directorate including the Maternity and Newborn Clinical Management System (MN-CMS) Liaise with suppliers, users and technical staff during the introduction of any new Maternity IT clinical system including the MN-CMS implementation Be the key link person for any new Maternity IT clinical system including the MN-CMS in Portiuncula Hospital liaising with Antenatal clinics, Early Pregnancy Unit, SCBU and the Maternity Unit Develop and implement Quality Assurance Programmes as prioritised by the Womens and Childrens Clinical Directorate Design and undertake audits, surveys, research duties as required Prepare clinical and operational reports from manual and I.T.
generated data Collect and validate clinical data / metrics /KPI for local, Hospital Group and National reports and audits as agreed and prioritised by the Womens and Childrens Clinical Directorate Manage the master list and supply for patient information leaflets / booklets in Maternity services Work in a coordinated way with the Multi disciplinary team in the Maternity and wider hospital Professional /Clinical The CNM/CMM2 will:
Manage patient care to ensure the highest professional standards using an evidence based, care planning approach Provide a high level of professional and clinical leadership Be responsible for the co-ordination, assessment, planning, delivery and review of service user care by all staff in designated area(s) Provide safe, comprehensive nursing / midwifery care to service users within the guidelines laid out by Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing Midwifery Board Ireland) The Manager will practice nursing / midwifery according to Professional Clinical Guidelines National and Area Health Service Executive (HSE guidelines). · Engage in continuing professional development by keeping up to date with nursing / midwifery literature, recent nursing / midwifery research and new developments in nursing / midwifery management, education and practice and to attend staff study days as considered appropriate
· Be familiar with the curriculum training programme for student nurses / midwives and be aware of the clinical experience required to meet the needs of the programme
· Participate in the identification, development and delivery of induction, education, training and development programmes for nursing / midwifery and non-nursing staff
· Provide support and supportive supervision to Clinical Nurse Manager 1 / Clinical Midwife Manager 1 and front-line staff where appropriate
Supervise and assess student nurses / midwives and foster a clinical learning environment Engage in performance review processes including personal development planning as appropriate Management The CNM/CMM 2 will:
· Exercise authority in the running of the assigned area(s) as deputised by the CNM3 / CMM 3
· Provide the necessary supervision, co-ordination and deployment of nursing / midwifery and support staff to ensure the optimum delivery of care in the designated area(s)
· Manage communication at ward and departmental level and facilitate team building
· Provide staff leadership and motivation which is conducive to good working relations and work performance
