We are currently recruiting for a Gardener to support the Head Gardener, Assistant Gardener, and Executive Head Chefs of the Ashford Estate in producing vegetables, fruits, herbs, edible flowers, and micro-greens. The role will have a focus on organic and sustainable methods of producing.

Operational Responsibilities:
1. Liaise directly with the Head Gardener in relation to the Estate Gardens.
2. Plant and maintain seasonal plants focusing on organic produce.
3. Work with the chefs in planting, maintaining, and supplying seasonal vegetables.
4. Mow, trim, and fertilize green spaces in line with sustainability goals.
5. Mulch, edge, and weed the gardens.
6. Monitor and maintain the health of plants.
7. Keep gardens and green spaces clear of debris and litter.
8. Pruning, garden maintenance, etc., as required to maintain the gardens.
9. Operate small farm machinery for ground preparation, lawn mowing, and strimming.
10. Coordinate with the gardener for the delivery of harvest each morning.
11. Ensure that all machinery and equipment is maintained in an operable and safe condition, reporting any faults to GM/Maintenance.
12. Maintain and adhere to the service logs for maintaining the Estate Gardens.
13. Ensure machinery is power washed and cleaned regularly.
14. Maintain clean and tidy maintenance sheds and service and fuel storage areas.
15. Collaborate with the Estate Grounds Team and Maintenance Team.
16. Ensure health and safety protocols are followed in the gardens.
The ideal candidate will:
1. Possess a good level of plant husbandry skill and horticultural techniques and a proactive enthusiasm for environmentally sound practice.
2. Have the ability to work on own initiative.
3. Have knowledge of local pests, synthetic and natural fertilizers, and health and safety regulations for landscaping.
4. Experience is not necessary but advantageous.
