Due to the continued growth (in 30+ countries and close to 4,000 employees), we are looking for a Sr Director of Global Payroll to help us scale our payroll operations. This role will be critical in executing our company-wide employee growth initiatives as well as providing excellent support to our employee base.
You will get the opportunity to use your expert payroll knowledge to ensure continuing compliance as a company and in your day to day collaborations with Regional HR, Accounting and other departments. This position requires a driven individual with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to embrace and drive change in a fast growing environment.
Responsibilities:
Lead global payroll team in our Americas, EMEA and APAC regions ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for up to 10,000 employees. Set a strategic direction and vision to support growth and scale of the operations
1. Manage the relationships and monitor the effectiveness of all global payroll service providers while assessing the need for change when we have outgrown a partnership.
2. Proactively partner and collaborate with key stakeholders such as Compensation, Benefits, Stock Administration, IT, Finance, Tax, Legal and third-party service providers to ensure seamless, compliant practices.
3. Partner with the Stock Administration team to manage stock-based compensation processing in payroll, including stock option exercises, RSUs and ESPP, to ensure payroll tax compliance
4. Develop additional payroll procedures, controls and ensure streamlined preparation, documentation, and disbursement of payroll-related payments
5. Scale processes to enhance payroll operational efficiency including the design and implementation of internal controls and maintain payroll policies and procedures
6. Implement new approaches and automation, policies and procedures that affect continual improvements in efficiency of services performed
7. Oversee payroll audits. Perform and monitor internal controls related to payroll to comply with SOX and other country-specific legal requirements; recommend improvements to optimize processes.
8. Partner with MongoDB’s inhouse tax team and external tax consultants to ensure we remain current on new legislation and regulatory rulings impacting payroll
9. Provide regular payroll-related operational and financial metrics and insights to leadership
10. Assist with internal and external audit requirements to ensure compliance
Skills and Qualifications:
11. Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance / Accounting, or related discipline.
12. 12+ years of experience in payroll operations, with specific experience in a global, multi-national, publicly-traded company
13. Thrive in a global, fast-paced, and dynamic work environment. Ability to manage high job complexity and constant multi-tasking with exceptional attention to detail. Well organized, able to prioritize well, work efficiently. Shows flexibility as workloads fluctuate.
14. Strong background in international payroll as well as expertise in US federal, state, and local payroll taxation
15. Experience in a high volume company supporting a population of 10k+ employees preferably
16. Experience with processing equity transactions globally (RSUs, ESPP or Stock Options is preferable)
17. Strong project management experience and drive to streamline processes at scale
18. Experience onboarding new payroll vendors and transitioning global payroll to different systems
19. Experience with Google Applications and advance level of proficiency using Microsoft Office
20. Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional business partners, internal/external stakeholders
21. Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills
22. Strong understanding of upstream data inputs and end-to-end integrated processes related to time & attendance, benefits and payroll.
23. Strong problem-solving, planning, and execution skills, coupled with an ownership mentality to ensure tasks are seen through to completion.
24. Experience with ADP WFN, ADP Streamline, ADP Celergo, SuccessFactors (HRIS system), KPMG GET and Etrade equity tool is a plus
25. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred
