Overview
As part of Microsoft Azure, the Azure Networking team designs and builds the network infrastructure that powers hundreds of thousands of servers in datacenters around the globe, providing core network infrastructure services for Azure, Bing, and other Microsoft cloud services. In Azure Networking, we are at the very front of Cloud Computing, running one of the largest data center network infrastructures in the world. By joining this team, you will gain marketable experience in service-oriented network architectures and datacenter networking at a massive scale.
For this position, you should be an expert with network protocols, network devices include network interface cards, pluggable optics, switches and routers. You should have recent experience working with large-scale distributed network management systems.
We are looking for an Senior Cloud Network Engineer to enhance and improve the platform, with an emphasis on devops -- the ability to script/program to support and operate a cloud-scale network.
You should have extensive experience uncovering and addressing network and system related problems in large scale data centers. You should be someone who can work to quickly mitigate impacting incidents and restore service availability through a software enabled toolset.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
1. 8+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automationOR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automationOR Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ year(s) technical experience in network design, development, and automation

3. Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
4. Extensive experience in networking, scripting, and software development. Familiarity/hands on experience with any network device operating systems (Sonic, Arista, Cisco, Juniper)
5. Cisco CCNA (or equivalent) and experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and Windows servers
6. Experience with writing automation in languages such as Python, C# and/or Java
7. Experience with writing scripts that use REST APIs, Syslog, xml, Streaming Telemetry, SNMP, and other Network Management Systems
8. Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals along with a strong understanding of IP networking MPLS, BGP, ISIS, OSPF and Anycast routing
9. Experience managing and troubleshooting network issues
10. Experience working on large scale networks
11. Leadership, coordination and teamwork skills
12. Ability to work independently on complex tasks
13. Ability to serve as a technical team lead
14. Motivated to drive leading edge technologies
15. Understanding of TCP/IP, BGP and AnyCast

Responsibilities
16. Lead and provide escalation support for datacenter network upgrades and operations
17. Oversee setting standards and the execution of various tests (new product/features qualification, interoperability, and regression) for proving the usability of various network hardware and software in Microsoft datacenters
18. Lead collaboration with partner development teams to integrate hardware into existing Azure SDN tooling
19. Working with internal and external vendor engineers to troubleshoot issues found during qualification and field operations and drive to resolution
20. Participate in “field technical support/on call rotation” to resolve issues with production networks
21. Maintaining the documentation of test results and updating the matrix of supported parts, ensuring proper asset management & maintaining lab documentation
