Job Description
The Manufacturing 4.0 Technology Manager is assigned to lead and/or support strategies, initiatives and ongoing technology scouting associated with manufacturing process standardization improvement, automation and digitalization at Avery Dennison manufacturing sites and outsource partners. The Manufacturing 4.0 Technology Manager collaborates globally with other technical, operations, supply chain and business colleagues across all functions.
The candidate must possess a combination of:
1. Expertise for manufacturing technologies, process automation and innovation
2. Basic Software and Hardware understandings
3. Basic business acumen
4. Lean principles and applications - Standardisation & Process improvements
5. Technology suppliers and markets understanding
6. People leadership and interpersonal skills
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
1. Identification and development of technologies and process changes to reduce time and manual effort in the production process.
2. Identification and development of next generation manufacturing platforms and processes, accelerating conversion to digital workflow.
3. Ability to develop and lead complex initiatives with limited direct supervision.
4. Ongoing collaboration and communication with colleagues and stakeholders across all functions to understand priority needs and opportunities and to share ideas and proposals.
5. Technology scouting and open innovation - engage in processes to proactively identify potential solutions and partners, establish and engage in ongoing practices to build a culture that encourages trying new things and failing fast to drive rapid learning.
6. Driving improvements using effective problem solving and lean principles, proposing and implementing changes to work processes and new technologies.
7. Supporting technology and product roadmaps for near and long term strategy - recommending and advising on capital investments, equipment modifications, and technology improvements.
8. Project management – effectively leading project teams and proactively managing execution of priority initiatives to deliver improved processes and results.
9. Coaching, training, and development of required skills and capabilities in others.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or commensurate training and work experience with demonstrated technical expertise across a range of products and technologies.
2. Minimum 10 years related work experience - manufacturing technologies, operations, process improvements, and problem solving.
3. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with limited supervision.
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization.
5. Ability to coach, train, and develop others.
6. Ability to effectively work, positively influence and collaborate with others.
7. Ability to travel when required to support business.
