About the Role
The Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman (FSPO) is seeking to hire for Decision Drafters - Assistant Principal Officer Grade. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in resolving complaints from consumers against financial service providers or pension providers.
Job Summary
In this challenging and rewarding role, you will be involved in analysing complex issues, communicating with stakeholders, managing and delivering our service, providing guidance, leading and motivating teams, and managing stakeholders. You will work closely with the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman, Deputy/ies Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman, the Director of Investigation Services, the Head of Legal Services, and other parties to whom the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman delegates decision making.
Main Responsibilities
* Drafting of Summaries of Complaint: You will articulate the specific conduct complained of to the FSPO, to which the respondent Provider must answer.
* Drafting of Preliminary Decisions: You will take into account the nature of the conduct complained of, the respective parties' contractual positions, the evidence, and include comment as to the legal and regulatory responsibilities of the parties.
* Drafting of Legally Binding Decisions: Once a Preliminary Decision is drafted, reviewed by the Ombudsman, Deputy Ombudsman or a delegate and issued, you will manage further submissions from the parties to the complaint and draft a Legally Binding Decision.
Essential Requirements
* A Barrister called to the Bar and enrolled as a Barrister in the State or a Solicitor admitted and enrolled as a Solicitor in the State, with not less than three years' practice experience.
* Holding a qualification at Level 8 or higher on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) or an equivalent professional qualification, with a minimum of five years' demonstratable professional experience relevant to the role.
Desirable Requirements
* Relevant experience in the financial services or pensions sectors.
* Familiarity with financial services and pensions legislative or regulatory provisions and case law.
* IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, and MS Teams.
Salary
€80,000 - €120,000 per annum.
