Senior Field Applications Specialist
Summary
Our Applications Engineering team is scaling globally to address our clients’ technical requirements in our rapidly expanding markets. As part of a highly functioning team, Applications Engineers are charged with adapting our technology platforms to end-users' processes, implementing these as a critical part of medicine manufacture. This team supports clients throughout the world by overseeing the design of novel, efficient and cost-effective process solutions while also confirming a robust supply chain, establishing market value, ensuring a seamless transition to manufacturing, and providing assistance and technical support necessary to ensure the successful implementation thereof. The position of Senior Field Applications Specialist will support the global Applications Engineering team by providing strong applications and technical support directly to clients at their facilities, and by providing training and leadership for newer Applications Engineering team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

2. Participate in industry standards groups, committees, and organizations to ensure processes and products are cGMP compliant, follow best practices, and are compatible with the regulatory environment required by our pharmaceutical customer base.
3. Understand how the regulatory body in their territory impacts the design and development of single-use systems, and relays that back to the Applications Engineering team.
4. Establish strategic relationships directly with our customers as a trusted and reliable technical partner.
5. Act as the first line of defense for customer related questions of single-use systems and filtration inquiries as an established subject matter expert (SME) in multiple areas.
6. Prepare and give presentations at industry conferences on a specific topic of their expertise.
7. Participate formally in the AE Mentoring Program, as a Mentor for at least two newer team members.
8. Work directly with Business Development and other relevant teams, such as the Global Finance and Accounting Department, to develop and maintain positive and collaborative technical relationships with clients in their territory and surrounding areas.
9. Helps to maintain and increase product usage and support relevant internal teams by leading on-site and virtual technical discussions, presentations and demonstrations.
10. Collaborates on pricing strategy, pricing models, and value engineering.
11. Provides frontline training and troubleshooting of issues related to implementing our technology platforms at client facilities, including performing filterability studies.
12. Acquires feedback and expectations from clients and relay that information to relevant internal teams.
13. Collaborate with other departments to ensure best practices are communicated throughout the organization.
14. Assist with Applications Engineering core functions including supporting client inquiries:
15. Develop single-use systems designs based on user and process requirements.
16. Manage Applications Engineering Projects in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to streamline and track interdepartmental customer-related communication.
17. Manage library of single-use componentry for use in single-use assemblies.
18. Support single-use systems production.
19. Provide product support for single-use systems and filters.
Qualifications, Education & Experience
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully function in this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology or equivalent technical discipline from four-year college or university. Master’s degree (M.S.) preferred.
2. Must have at least 5-8 years of experience as a technical specialist in single-use systems and technologies geared toward the pharmaceutical industry. Filtration experience is a plus.
3. Proven ability to work independently, with strong self-motivation and time management skills.
4. Travel to client facilities and entities globally may account for roughly 25% of time or more.
5. Able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
6. Experience in responding to inquiries or concerns from clients, or members of the business community in a professional manner.
7. Write speeches, articles, white papers, or ballots for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
8. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
9. Demonstrate computer skills, including familiarity with CAD and proficiency in word-processing, spreadsheets and databases.
10. Apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
11. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
12. Proven track record in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
13. Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
14. Excellent attention to detail is necessary as our products, inclusive of but not limited to single-use assemblies and filters, are used in the production and use of life-saving drugs.
15. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with other departments as well as parties external to the organization.
16. Able to lead client discussions and present technical capabilities.
Physical Demands
Occasional work may be done in an ISO Class 7 cleanroom environment. Powder-free gloves, face masks, hairnets, gowns, and shoe covers must be worn. Because smokers continue to shed thousands of smoke particles even hours after smoking a cigarette and these particles will damage our products, only non-smokers are permitted to enter or work in the cleanroom. As a result, the successful candidate must be a nonsmoker.
