We are currently looking for a Therapy TechnicianJob Purpose To provide therapy assistance to members of the Multidisciplinary Team (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Psychologist) under the guidance and supervision of the team. To implement psychology strategies with residents under the guidance of the psychologist. To assist and carry out Activities of Daily living to residents under guidance of the Occupational Therapist. To assist and accompany residents with their rehabilitation programmes, accessing the local community and public transport under guidance from the Therapy team. The role of the therapy technician is to support people with an acquired brain injury to live valued lives in the supportive living unit and to facilitate optimum independence and participation in activities within the St Doolagh's and the local community. This new role will be supported by the therapy team with extensive training and supervision.
Main duties and responsibilities To work as a member of the team; to participate in meetings as required. To provide support to residents in attending appointments and courses in the community. Driving residents using the van assigned to St Doolaghs is required. To attend regular supervision sessions with therapists. To record notes electronically on Epicare as shown by therapy team. To communicate effectively with all staff and therapists to ensure continuity of care. To provide support with activities of daily living (showering/washing/dressing) and domestic activities of daily living (Budgeting/shopping) with residents. To assist and encourage residents to achieve their goals identified in their neuro-rehabilitation plans. To encourage resident to develop and maintain links within the local community and promote socialisation. To assist resident in promotion of independence in meal preparation. To assist resident and staff in group attendance and therapy sessions by ensuring they are aware and punctual. To promote mobilisation with residents on a daily basis under the guidance of the therapy team. To assist therapy team in groups (ie) swimming, horticulture, gym exercise groups, communication and psychology groups. Support residents in gaining appropriate employment/ day occupation and leisure opportunities under supervision of therapy team. Encourage and support residents in using a wide range of community facilities as part of their day to day life.
To support residents in the skills necessary for this - executive functioning group. To facilitate and promote healthy living with the use of group activities such as running a walking and weight loss group.
The following candidate will require the following skills and competencies:
Applicants should ideally have previous care work experience, preferably within a residential/community setting. Minimum FETAC level Enthusiastic, flexible and adaptable Excellent communication skills A good team player Full clean driving license is desirable but not essential.
