Overhead Lines Design Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Overhead Lines Design Engineer to join our team in Cork or Kerry.
The Role
As an Overhead Lines Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of overhead electrical transmission and distribution lines for various projects across Ireland.
Responsibilities:
* Design overhead electrical lines for both medium and high voltage transmission systems.
* Perform electrical and mechanical design calculations in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
* Create detailed design drawings and technical specifications for the installation and maintenance of overhead lines.
* Collaborate with project teams to ensure that designs meet client requirements, budget constraints, and timelines.
* Undertake site assessments and surveys to support design development.
* Provide technical support during the construction and commissioning phases.
* Conduct risk assessments and ensure that designs adhere to health, safety, and environmental standards.
* Coordinate with stakeholders such as project managers, electrical engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
Requirements:
* A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
* Minimum 3 years experience in overhead line design, ideally within a contractor or engineering consultancy environment.
* Proven expertise in using design software, such as PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
* Strong understanding of electrical distribution and transmission networks, including relevant standards and codes.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to design and project management.
* A flexible approach to travel, as projects will be located across Ireland.
* Full driving license.
Desirable:
* Chartered Engineer status (or working towards).
* Experience in medium and high voltage electrical design projects.
* Familiarity with Irish regulations and safety standards.
