Principal Ecologist

Responsibilities:
* Manage individual contracts to deliver high-quality ecological consultancy services.
* Provide expert ecological input for a range of projects, drawing on your extensive knowledge and experience.
* Plan, conduct, and supervise the execution of site ecological surveys and fieldwork, ensuring accurate and comprehensive data collection.
* Prepare and monitor the implementation of Construction Environmental Management Plans, minimizing environmental impact and ensuring compliance with regulations.
* Undertake Appropriate Assessments and Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), Biodiversity Chapters for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs), and other environmental reporting requirements, providing expert advice and guidance.
* Write technical reports and other deliverables, clearly communicating complex information and findings.
* Manage quality, focusing on attention to detail, accuracy, and delivery of contracts on time and to the highest possible standards.
* Provide expert witness at Oral Hearings, confidently presenting evidence and opinions.
* Develop excellent relationships with clients, attending meetings and collaborating with design teams as necessary.
Skills/Qualifications:
* Hold a degree in ecology or a related subject.
* Have a minimum of 10 years post-graduate experience in environmental consultancy, demonstrating expertise and leadership.
* Be a member of CIEEM, CIWEM, or an equivalent professional body, showcasing commitment to industry standards and best practices.
* Have experience in the oral hearing process and as an expert witness, able to communicate effectively and confidently.
* Possess detailed knowledge of wildlife and conservation legislation within Ireland, staying up-to-date with changes and developments.
* Excel in technical report writing, producing clear and concise documents that meet client needs.
* Have experience in preparing and monitoring the implementation of Construction Environmental Management Plans, ensuring successful project outcomes.
* Be experienced in working in multi-disciplinary teams, fostering collaboration and communication.
* Demonstrate excellent communication, organisational, and project management skills, ensuring seamless workflow and effective delivery.
* Hold a full clean driving licence, enabling safe and efficient travel for work-related activities.
