The Procurement Director – Bord Gáis Energy is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving the procurement agenda required to support the operations of Bord Gáis Energy. This role will be instrumental in aligning Procurement objectives to Bord Gáis Energy business objectives.
Reporting directly to the Group Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) / CFO Bord Gáis Energy Energy the Procurement Director will lead the development and execution of procurement strategies, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of essential materials and services while maintaining the highest standards of quality and supplier relationships. You will lead and develop the Procurement operating model within Bord Gáis Energy to create long term strategic plans and develop a high-performance culture that drives cost minimisation, mitigates risk, and contributes to the achievement of key business objectives.
The Procurement Director will actively manage spend and risk, map and lead the consolidation of global supply chains and facilitate the continuous improvement of procurement processes in line with Group Procurement processes, interfacing directly into both the Bord Gáis senior leadership team, and the Group Procurement Leadership Team.
About the Role
Procurement Strategy:
1. Developing and implementing a fully embedded Procurement strategy for Bord Gáis Energy, interwoven with overarching business goals and Bord Gáis Energy targets
2. Acting as a strategic advisor to the business to ensure that the Procurement Function is focussing effort on key objectives supporting business strategy, whilst aligning with Centrica Group policies, standards and processes, and supporting delivery of the Grou
3. Creating deep partnerships and strong relationships with senior leadership in Bord Gáis Energy
4. Ensuring that Bord Gáis Energy business priorities are fed back within Procurement communities
5. Actively participating in and supporting the development of the Procurement Function across the Group, along with Procurement Leadership Colleagues.
6. Leading implementation of the Group Procurement Roadmap within Bord Gáis Energy.
Organisational Alignment
7. Facilitating alignment between the Bord Gáis Energy teams and Procurement teams to gain a clear understanding of short, medium and long term priorities with clear accountabilities for delivery
8. Implementing performance measures between Procurement and Bord Gáis Energy, and accountable for presentation of effective procurement management information and reporting to business stakeholders
9. Ensuring all agreed procurement deliverables are integrated into business planning
10. Monitoring and ensuring that Procurement commitments made to the business are met
11. Ensuring category management is fully aligned to Bord Gáis Energy business strategy with full visibility of business needs pipeline
12. Ensuring that stakeholders understand the procurement proposition and engaging with other Procurement Directors to align efforts to best support strategic goals of Centrica
13. Promotion of Procurement work beyond own team, acting as a facilitator across senior levels of the business
Safety Performance
14. Driving continuous improvements Bord Gáis Energy safety performance through the selection and performance management of contractors.
15. Ensuring selection and Implementing fully accurate safety metrics across 3rd party activity to promote best in class safety performance management
16. Embedding robust safety performance metrics into 3rd party selection and ongoing Supplier Relationship Management practices
Digital, Tools & Process:
17. Championing seamless, efficient customer experiences for business stakeholders and suppliers when they engage with Procurement
18. Promoting a culture of continuous improvement within Procurement to resolve pain-points for stakeholders and improve the ease of engaging with Procurement
19. Driving innovation within Procurement to harness digitisation, automation and AI functionality to enable maximum focus on strategic value
20. Ensuring full process compliance at all times across Bord Gáis Energy Procurement activity, with fit for purpose fair contracts across Bord Gáis Energy 3rd parties
21. Collaborating closely across Procurement teams to reduce cycle times for Procurement delivery
Category Management:
22. Collaborating with Procurement category teams to ensure the delivery of all value identified in the contract across its lifecycle, focussing Procurement colleagues on areas of further value-add in line with business agreed targets
23. Contributing market expertise in the markets in which Bord Gáis Energy operate - identify emerging market trends, supplier innovations, and potential risks to proactively adapt procurement strategies
24. Developing external partnerships with key suppliers, to drive value for Bord Gáis Energy in accordance with the Centrica Supplier Relationship Management Framework
25. Collaborating with Procurement category teams to challenge business needs and ensure requirements are appropriately specified and sourced from the appropriate supplier, and that negotiations of contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers achieve favourable outcomes
26. Collaborating with Procurement category teams to develop contingency plans to maintain supply chain resilience in the face of disruptions
27. Challenging business unit strategy by allowing category team members to share new ideas and disruptions to their stakeholders, showcasing opportunities for cost reduction, innovation, risk reduction or enhanced compliance
Responsible Sourcing & ESG:
28. Champion sustainability and ethical procurement practices, ensuring that suppliers adhere to responsible business standards.
29. Drive initiatives to support Centrica’s Net Zero goals and to reduce the environmental impact of the procurement process.
30. Align procurement strategies with the company's corporate social responsibility goals.
About You
31. Excellent knowledge of the Republic of Ireland market dynamics in the energy generation, energy supply and Home Services sector.
32. Significant experience across the procurement lifecycle for large and complex companies with strong emphasis on Direct and Indirect experience and expertise.
33. Experience of leading procurement on large complex capital construction projects and working with EPC contractors.
34. Proven ability to think laterally, globally, and creatively to drive additional value for the business.
35. Strong ability to influence at all levels of the organization. Evidence of building trust across large organizations.
36. Progressive experience in leading Category Management initiatives inclusive of supplier management.
37. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
38. Strong negotiation skills. A proven record of significant cost reductions in goods and services related to indirect spend.
39. Strong internal customer influence and change management skills essential.
40. Demonstrated leadership qualities (i.e., enthusiasm, decisiveness, strategic thinking, change agent).
41. Track record of delivering long term value within a Procurement environment.
42. Approaches delivery in a programmatic way with the effective use of six sigma, lean and scrum methodologies
