Project Automation Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Project Automation Engineer to join our team at Horizon, working with a leading pharmaceutical company in Waterford.
The successful candidate will be responsible for safely coordinating and leading projects relating to Automation and Cyber projects, ensuring that the project meets its agreed goals/targets on time and within budget.
The engineer will report project progress to the Department Manager, overseeing the design and implementation of equipment/facility upgrades and ensuring that goals/targets are achieved.

About You
You are an experienced Automation engineer looking for a new challenge, with a proven track record of delivering projects from installation to coordination with contractors and vendors.
* Safely coordinate the delivery of automation upgrades associated with facility equipment, including Packaging Lines, Press Equipment, Case Packers, BMS Systems, etc.
* Coordinate upgrading automation systems with above-site representatives and onsite key stakeholders.
* Possess knowledge of cybersecurity systems and requirements, addressing potential systems obsolescence.
* Lead the Project Team or support validation following project upgrades/installs.
* Complete scoping of Windows and Server upgrades as required, considering cybersecurity implications and obsolescence risks.
* Conduct Front End Studies for upgrading equipment and systems.
* Create and present Project Approvals to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) for approval.
* Coordinate all equipment documentation requirements, ensuring they meet local and company standards.
* Commission and validate automation upgrades as required.
* Report to the Project Manager on project progress and provide advice/support on key project outcomes, including cybersecurity and obsolescence issues.
* Work with relevant Business Unit team leaders to implement improvement opportunities.
* Lead regular Project review meetings, with a focus on cybersecurity and obsolescence.
* Manage contractors as required, ensuring they adhere to cybersecurity protocols and address systems obsolescence.
About the Role
This is a challenging opportunity for a skilled Automation engineer to lead projects in a dynamic and innovative environment.
The ideal candidate will have:
* A Third-level qualification in an Engineering or Science discipline/experience (Automation).
* Experience of working within either the medical device or bio/pharmaceutical industry (advantageous but not necessary).
* 5+ years of experience in Automation engineering.
* Knowledge of Windows and Server Upgrades, and previous experience associated with cybersecurity.
* Experience of SAP (an advantage).
* Project Management experience (preferable but not necessary).
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a multi-function project team set up.
