We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accountant to join our dynamic team.
This role involves managing key financial processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and contributing to the overall financial health and operational efficiency of our hotel.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee and manage the Stock Control systems for Food & Beverage operations within the hotel.
Conduct and report on monthly Food & Beverage stocktakes, analysing results to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
Collaborate closely with Food & Beverage Suppliers and internal F&B Managers to resolve stock-related issues, negotiate pricing, and optimize procurement processes.
Prepare and post month-end journals to the Nominal Ledger, ensuring accuracy and timeliness for the completion of the monthly management information pack.
Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and providing insights into asset utilization.
Assist in the preparation of budget forecasts and monitor performance against budgets, identifying and addressing variances.
Contribute to the preparation of year-end financial statements and liaise with external auditors during audits.
Ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations and prepare VAT returns as required.
Develop and refine internal financial controls to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance across accounting processes.
Qualifications and Skills: We are looking for candidates who bring the following to our team: Proficient PC skills, with advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis) and other Microsoft Office applications.
Experience with accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, or similar platforms; experience with ERP systems is an advantage.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Demonstrated ability to analyse financial data, identify trends, and present findings effectively.
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
A team-oriented attitude, coupled with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
A commitment to continuous learning, staying updated on industry trends and accounting best practices.
Preferred Qualifications: A degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Progress toward professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or CIMA is highly desirable.
