Injection Moulding Technician - Co. Waterford
This is a key role within our production team, requiring a skilled technician to oversee the injection moulding process from start to finish.
About the Role
In this position, you will be responsible for providing technical support and leadership on production/processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in an efficient manner.
Main Responsibilities
* Oversight of injection moulding process start up, monitoring during running, and shutdown to achieve production targets for quality product (customer volume, yield, scrap and material cost).
* Troubleshooting & resolving issues in a timely manner using a systematic approach to 'root cause' problem solving.
* Ensuring tool set-up & changeover activities are optimised to meet production targets.
* Supporting process engineer in developing new processes, setup, proof of concept & validation runs for existing and new production & prototype tools.
* Ensuring completion and accuracy of required documentation in the manufacturing area from all operation team supporting injection moulding.
* Supporting continuous improvement projects using 'Decoupled' process & lean tools to optimise injection moulding performance and improve reliability.
* Distributing personnel as per planning from Team Leader / Shift Manager.
* Ownership of updating the visual area board, shift handover meeting and operational workbook- assuming responsibilities of Team Leader / Shift Manager when necessary.
* Working with quality personnel to rectify any issues promptly.
* Complying with EHS & cGMP policies and procedures, leading safety audits, 5S & cGMP activities online.
* Supporting the development of documentation, training and work instruction activities within injection moulding.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will hold a 3rd level NCEA Level 6 qualification in Mechanical / plastics engineering or equivalent.
* At least 5 years' experience of injection moulding.
* Experience of mould set-up and working with a wide variety of plastics and mould types.
* Additional specialist industry standard 'process technician training' desirable.
