Overall Purpose of the Job
The payroll officer will be responsible for processing and administering all aspects of payroll, ensuring accurate and timely disbursement of employee salaries, benefits, and deductions. The Payroll Officer will play a crucial role in maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations, resolving payroll discrepancies, and collaborating with various departments to streamline payroll processes. This role requires strong attention to detail, payroll expertise, and the ability to work independently to ensure payroll operations run smoothly.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Co-ordinating the processing & payment of bi-weekly, monthly and lunar payrolls
2. Strong knowledge of Sage and HR systems
3. Calculation & administration of monthly Medical Aid, Pension & other payroll related deductions
4. Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, PAYE/PRSI rules, payroll processes, pensions, BIK and other additions and deductions, and submission of all returns / payments on time
5. Issuing of payslips, payroll related taxation, social welfare documents and other documentation
6. Preparation of monthly company benefits records and payments
7. Timely resolution of employee payroll queries
8. Processing of year end
9. Support pension account reconciliations and payment of deductions in accordance with statutory requirements
10. Liaising with HR in relation to any employee detail amendments
11. Assisting to reconcile monthly payroll accounts and prepare necessary journal entries
12. Liaising with Operations Managers and the HR Team on employee, payroll and Time and Attendance queries and amendments
13. Support as a helpline function for the self-service and supervisor side of TMS
14. Responsible for Monthly Costing Reports for Managers
Qualifications and Experience
1. Ability to quickly and effectively become familiar with our internal payroll platforms and procedures
2. A keen willingness to learn new tasks, be open to change and demonstrate a high degree of flexibility
3. Highly organised, detail-oriented, possessing the ability to effectively prioritise projects and deliverables whilst meeting deadlines set by the Payroll Manager
4. A high level of personal drive and self-motivation with an ability to work on own initiative and part of a team
5. Experience of working to tight deadlines and under pressure whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy
6. Excellent attention to detail and an ability to analyse and interrogate high volumes of data as well as demonstrating an ability to focus on higher level overview
Ideal Requirements
1. Experience processing end-to-end high-volume payrolls with regular changes
2. IPASS certified
3. Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance
4. Strong working knowledge of MS Office including intermediate to advanced Excel (vlookups and pivot tables)
Working Pattern
Monday to Friday 9 AM to 5:30 PM.
