Mid-West Regional Development Officer
This is a part-time (2 1/2 days a week) fixed term contract for 12 months.
Position Overview & Main Responsibility
Cystic Fibrosis Ireland (CFI), in partnership with our regional branch Tipperary, Limerick and Clare (TLC4CF), is seeking to employ a Fixed Term part-time Regional Development Officer for a period of 12 months.
The Role
* Support and facilitate the improvement of hospital services for people with CF in the Mid-West area (with support from TLC4CF committee and CFI Head Office).
* Provide administrative support and project management for various ongoing projects aimed at improving the lives of people with CF.
* Assist in the preparation of TLC4CF meetings.
* Assist in the preparation of meetings with University Hospital of Limerick.
* Provide an information and personal advocacy service for members living with CF and their families (in partnership and support from CFI head office in Dublin).
* Support and attend TLC4CF fundraising initiatives in the Mid-West Region.
* Attend cheque presentations and branch meetings in Tipperary, Limerick, and Clare.
Contract: The role is a 2 ½ day part-time Fixed Term Contract for 12 months. The appointed person will be a senior coordinator grade with a salary of €38,000 (full-time salary which will be pro rata for part-time).
Please note, this role is remote based with frequent travel to hospitals, cheque presentations, fundraising events, etc., required locally.
The Person
The Regional Development Officer will be skilled at multi-tasking and will have empathy for people and their families living with a long-term disease. They should possess the confidence and skill set necessary for interacting with patients, their families, supporters of CF initiatives, and the statutory sector. A regional strategic plan will inform their role and work.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
* Experience in development-type work such as coordinating projects either in Ireland or abroad.
* Strong writing and communication skills.
* Must be able to drive and have their own car.
* Ideally, a third-level qualification in social sciences/community or local development; or considerable experience in community or local development.
* An understanding of the health system in Ireland.
* An understanding of broader social policy.
* Experience interacting with statutory agencies on public service issues.
* Ability to work strategically.
