Category Data Analyst

Principle Objective
Reporting to the Head of Category, the Category Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, processing, and performing statistical analyses on large datasets. They will discover how data can be used to answer questions and solve problems related to buying, procurement, and category analysis in the context of the company’s goals and strategies.
Knowledge & Experience
* Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field.
* Proven experience in data analysis, buying, procurement, or category analysis.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
* Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
* Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analysing datasets.
* Experience in report writing and presenting findings.
* Understanding of the buying process and supply chain management.
* Familiarity with sustainability reporting and financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities
* Utilise advanced data analysis techniques to support the buying team, enhancing decision-making processes with timely and accurate insights.
* Perform detailed analysis of category data, including sales performance, pricing trends, and market dynamics to identify actionable opportunities for revenue growth and cost optimisation.
* Analyse supplier performance metrics to evaluate effectiveness and identify potential areas for improvement or renegotiation.
* Develop and maintain financial models to assess the profitability of products and suppliers, contributing to the overall financial strategy.
* Generate regular reports on sustainability metrics, providing a data-driven approach to support the company's sustainability goals and initiatives.
* Collaborate with IT to support data integration efforts, ensuring seamless data flow across various systems and platforms for more efficient analysis.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance and IT, to ensure data consistency and to support the implementation of system improvements.
* Translate complex data findings into understandable, actionable reports and presentations for stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
* Continuously seek to improve data collection and analysis processes, implementing best practices in data management and analytics.
* Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data analysis tools and techniques, recommending and implementing new technologies as appropriate.
