Financial Controller Job Description
About the Role:
We are a privately-owned, mid-sized Irish business in the logistics sector. Currently in a growth phase, we seek to appoint a Financial Controller to a newly created position.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee all Finance matters and ensure timely completion of tasks.
* Prepare and present monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
* Generate monthly sales reporting, weekly forecasts, and annual budgets.
* Analyze performance against plan and explain variances across departments.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for auditors and external providers (IT, Insurance, Property & Pension).
* Develop and enhance financial controls and office procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
* Manage a team of 8 finance staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
* Implement treasury, cash management, and cost control strategies to optimize resources.
* Exercise fiscal responsibility by managing capital expenditure and funding.
Requirements:
* Hold a recognized accounting qualification (e.g., Chartered Accountant).
* Min. 6 years of post-qualification experience in a supervisory role, preferably within the logistics industry.
* Demonstrate strong financial skills and proven competence in financial management and accounting.
* Showcase ability to develop relationships with senior stakeholders to understand their needs.
* Possess strong management skills, including people management experience.
* Have knowledge of international trade, customs aspects, and process improvement implementation.
