About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chef to join our team at Shamrock Lodge Hotel in Athlone. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking and presenting high-quality dishes that exceed our guests' expectations.
Responsibilities
* Dish Preparation: Prepare, cook and present high-quality dishes to exacting standards.
* Menu Development: Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in creating menu items, recipes and developing new dishes to enhance our culinary offerings.
* Meat and Fish Preparation: Prepare meat and fish dishes according to established procedures and quality standards.
* Health and Safety Management: Assist with the management of health and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
* Food Hygiene Practice: Assist with the management of food hygiene practices to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
* Portion and Waste Control: Monitor portion sizes and waste control to minimize waste and optimize resources.
* Kitchen Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of kitchen equipment and facilities to ensure optimal functionality and cleanliness.
* Pre-Service Preparation: Set up the kitchen prior to service to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
* Food Preparation Assistance: Assist with marinating, cutting and precooking foods as needed.
* Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean the kitchen thoroughly at the end of each service to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
Requirements
* Experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role.
* Skills: Creative, innovative and extremely well-organized.
* Trends and Knowledge: Up-to-date with current health food trends and forward-thinking for future trend opportunities.
* Communication: Excellent communication skills with fluency in English language.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position with a 37.5-hour workweek, Monday to Friday, with weekend availability required. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a creative and innovative approach to cuisine, and a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety, food hygiene, and customer satisfaction.
