We are looking for a dedicated Lead Architect to join our talented team at our office located in Cork, Ireland.
In this role, you will provide leadership of technical discipline and direct the day-to-day operational activities of any assigned Architecture Group staff.
The Lead Architect works independently on various projects as assigned by the business. This individual may oversee the entire design process or assist as a technical expert on a specialised design. The Lead Architect may work on several concurrent projects. When leading as part of a project team, the Lead Architect will supervise their team members in their particular area of specialisation.
KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assists in the development of proposals to communicate the approach to the project and highlight expertise in the planning and design of facilities for the life science industry.
* Collaborates with marketing to develop and maintain qualifications, project portfolios, and other marketing materials specific to their area of expertise.
* Demonstrates the ability and interest to develop conceptual ideas to present to clients during proposal presentations through client interactions and/or interviewing end users.
* Performs quality reviews for designs to assure building and GMP compliance within their particular specialty, ensuring company, regulatory agency, and production standards are met.
* Develop conceptual and Preliminary "BOD" write-ups based on client meetings and maintains continued support into the Construction phase.
* Recognises design support abilities of team members and empowers them to elevate their design capabilities through challenging assignments.
* Facilitates relationship development with potential and existing clients.
* Facilitates project kick-offs and workshops, focusing on establishing project drivers and design basis.
* Collaborates with IPS disciplines.
* Assesses project requirements, breaks projects into tasks, and works with Project Managers to determine scope of work, budget, and staffing.
* Researches specialty equipment as needed through vendor collaboration.
* Assists in managing clients and teams, focusing on design progression within agreed-upon schedules and budgets.
* Writes scopes of work for architectural design based on preliminary reviews and client meetings.
* Possesses knowledge of applicable building codes.
* Assigns and reviews work of project design teams, checking progress and alerting Project Managers to changes in scope or additional services.
* Coordinates all aspects of preliminary design document completion within the company and externally with clients and other design professionals.
* Provides support for specialty-related project specifications to ensure they are delivered with company quality standards.
* Possesses comprehensive knowledge of traditional building design with a good understanding of how their specialty expertise integrates with GMP cleanroom design.
* Prepares or reviews construction budgets based on experience and project scope.
* Promotes and participates in the development of company design and production standards.
* Assists in mentoring, educating, and developing design staff and acts as a resource for design and industry questions.
* Performs special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements
* 10+ years of architectural design experience in the designated specialty (i.e., as a Lab Architect or Process Architect).
* +8 years of Life Sciences Industry experience is required.
* Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) Degree from an accredited University or College; registered architect (RA) and AIA/NAAB/NCARB membership/accreditation is preferred.
* Proven experience leading conceptual design efforts.
* Ability to interpret a building program and generate varied design concepts (knowledge of building and zoning codes).
* Holistic facility design skills preferred (exterior/façade design as well as interior layout development).
* Proficient use of a computer for design and an understanding of BIM/CAD design process (Revit experience is preferred).
* Proven experience interacting and communicating directly with clients.
* Excellent time management skills and the ability to work on more than one project at a time.
* Experience and knowledge of process, mechanical, structural, civil, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection system design and how these systems integrate into architectural design.
