Assistant Director of Nursing
The role of Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is a senior clinical position that reports to the Director of Nursing. The ADON provides clinical leadership, manages day-to-day clinical practices, and supervises staff.
Clinical Practice
* Ensure delivery of high standards of nursing and social care that meet individual resident needs.
* Conduct ward rounds to achieve best clinical outcomes.
* Review nursing documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
* Ensure medication practices comply with An Bord Altranais guidelines.
Staff Supervision & Education
* Support Charge Nurses in mentoring and regular communication.
* Monitor staff practice and provide constructive feedback.
* Carry out regular performance appraisals and education objectives.
Auditing
* Regularly review residents' documentation for accuracy and timeliness.
* Carry out medication audits, health & safety audits, and risk assessments.
Residents/Relatives - Person Centred
* Interact with and support residents and families daily.
* Deal with complaints promptly and escalate as necessary.
Management and Communication
* Responsible for day-to-day clinical practices in the home.
* Supervise staff, monitor drug rounds, and deal with clinical issues.
Skills and Attributes
* Excellent Leadership, Organisational, and Communication skills.
* Ability to collaborate effectively within a senior management team.
* Sound decision-making ability.
Qualifications
* First-level registration on the Irish live register.
* Previous management experience.
