Principal responsibilities of the Role:
The Member Engagement Controller (MEC) will report to the Deputy CEO and will be responsible for communicating the TCU Strategic Plan to our members and ensuring quality implementation of our strategic objectives through the areas of member and community engagement and understanding, marketing and business development. The Member Engagement Controller will be the face and voice of the Credit Union in the local community and will be the filter through which all engagement with the membership must pass. This role will also involve custodianship and careful development of the valuable Tullamore Credit Union brand. The role will require innovative thinking and an energetic, inspiring and positive approach day to day. The MEC will act at all times within the policies as laid down by the Board, Credit Union and other relevant legislation and within the ethos of the Credit Union, in service to its members and the community.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and direct the engagement, marketing and business development functions of TCU, cultivating and embedding a culture of impactful engagement, driving member participation in our increasingly diverse, relevant and tailored offerings.
2. Develop and implement engagement, marketing and business development plans aligned with TCU’s strategic and business objectives, with continual monitoring for effectiveness.
3. Lead the optimal penetration of our profile, brand and value propositions within existing and new markets in line with our strategic ambitions, building relationships, learning and honing our approach to building a strong business development ethos that is value and service based.
4. Effective coaching, development and motivation of all front line staff, leveraging our CRM system to convert more business into selling our value added services to our members.
5. Develop and continuously evolve a strong, accurate reporting and analytics system that ensures management, and the board have relevant, succinct data to make good decisions and ensure insights gained from quality member engagement are fed back to key functions to inform better decisions, services and offerings.
6. Together with the wider management team, take a key role as the member champion in leading new offering business cases that drive member relevance and improve activation metrics.
7. Collaborate with the Lending, and Member Service teams ensuring they all understand their engagement, sales and business development roles in strengthening TCU’s position and relevance to members and our positive impact and contribution to communities.
8. Be solutions focused on engaging with community organisations, NGOs, charities and Sports Organisations etc, to develop partnerships that are mutually beneficial for both counterparties in the interest of nurturing vibrant, sustainable communities.
9. Liaise regularly with the Finance team on market and member insights ensuring learnings flow both ways in embedding a data-led approach to inform better engagement, marketing and business development.
10. Devise and manage targets and performance standards for all engagement, marketing and business development direct reports in delivering work plans effectively.
11. Support the management team and board in ad-hoc duties as required and agreed from time to time.
The successful candidate should have the following:
1. Business related Degree with QFA certification or demonstrated willingness to achieve MCC certification.
2. 5 years of proven Business Development experience in a results-driven customer focused commercial environment.
3. Dynamic, creative, solutions focused and self-motivated individual.
4. Capable of working independently to identify sales, marketing and new business opportunities.
5. An appreciation of and identification with the credit union ethos and the power of mutuality.
6. Exceptional people management and motivational skills.
7. Experience in communicating and influencing in person, in digital settings, writing and presentations.
8. Experience in using a CRM system for sales referrals, generating insights and meeting targets to drive revenue growth.
9. Discretion in dealing with confidential information.
10. Ability to manage multiple competing workstreams simultaneously and meet deadlines, while upholding standards.
11. Experience working in the financial service industry with credit union experience is preferable.
12. Working at senior level, and preferably experience at board level in terms of report writing and presentations.
