About your new role as a Quantity Surveyor:
Our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the team in Galway. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of mechanical services within construction projects, ensuring all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a background in construction and a passion for cost management in construction. The role will require you to work across 2 locations, one in Galway and one in Monaghan as that’s where their two biggest projects are based.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for building projects on both their commercial and residential projects.
* Monitor and report on project costs, ensuring adherence to budgets and identifying areas for cost control.
* Assist with procurement processes, including tendering, supplier negotiations, and subcontractor management.
* Review project specifications and drawings to identify cost-effective solutions and provide value engineering input.
* Manage variations and changes to the scope of works, ensuring they are accurately valued and documented.
* Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and safety requirements.
* Provide regular progress reports, including cost forecasting and final account preparation.
* Liaise with clients, contractors, and project teams to ensure seamless communication and successful project delivery.
* Assist with contract administration and dispute resolution as required.
What Skills You Need:
* A degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within the construction industry.
* Strong understanding of building regulations and processes.
* Experience with contract management, procurement, and cost estimation.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quantity surveying software.
* Membership of a professional body (e.g., RICS, CICES) is an advantage, but not essential.
