What you can expect in a typical day:
The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for electrical safety in design and life cycle of all electrical installations and equipment in support of Capital Projects, Technical, Maintenance, Operations and HSE. The Electrical Design Engineer is to provide technical design with focus on safety, schedule, and cost management adherence, while complying with good engineering practices, company policies and all applicable regulations and codes of practice.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensures that site EP/REP standards and any related procedures associated with the Electrical discipline, are followed during the design phase.
2. Generating detailed scope of work packages for E/I and automation contractors for tender / procurement process, applying value engineering where possible.
3. Define the Electrical requirements for capital projects and interact with internal and external stakeholders, vendors and contractors for tender negotiation, cost estimates, constructability and safety reviews.
4. Input into Project Management regarding the Electrical discipline within projects including cost estimates, planning and schedule reporting.
5. Responsible for providing the Electrical technical information to procurement for new and replacement equipment.
6. Generate I/O lists, equipment index, cable block diagrams and Loop drawings (AutoCAD).
7. Apply knowledge of ATEX and Hazardous Area compliance within the Electrical designs.
8. Assist with co-ordination of E & I contractors during construction and commissioning activities where applicable.
9. This role predominately provides Electrical design input into the Capital Program group. The role will also assist Operations and Maintenance departments to develop Electrical engineering solutions where required.

Education and Experience:
1. Degree qualified Electrical Engineer with design experience within refining or a similar industry.
2. Additional qualification or experience in Instrumentation, Functional Safety, ATEX or related experience is highly desirable.
3. Comprehensive understanding of design within Electrical networks, Instrumentation, safety systems, and process control systems equipment used within refining or industrial operations.
4. Experience in Electrical Engineering design within capital projects and maintenance with knowledge of High-Tension Electrical equipment including electrical transmission systems, transformers, motors etc.
5. Considered an authority of the Electrical discipline and able to effectively manage complex problems and provide unique and innovative design solutions.
6. Clear understanding of Electrical legislation, industry drivers and regulatory environment.
7. Ability to manage priorities and workload.
8. Possess a good understanding of automation systems and their interactions with electrical installations.
