Electrical Design EngineerPosition Overview:The Electrical Design Engineer is a pivotal role within our Irish business, responsible for managing and delivering projects while maintaining key customer relationships. This role encompasses technical expertise in electrical design, building compliance, energy management, and project coordination to drive innovative and sustainable solutions.Reports to: Operations ManagerKey Relationships: Managing Director (Ireland), Group Engineering Director, Engineering Department, CAD DepartmentResponsibilities:Manage key projects end-to-end, including commercial, technical, and quality aspects.Maintain and develop strong relationships with customers.Lead internal teams and oversee the review and approval of all electrical designs.Define project scope, budgets, and ensure robust development at the concept stage.Design and specify electrical systems, including MV/LV power distribution, lighting, safety, and security systems, incorporating renewable technologies where applicable.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and regional vendors to deliver construction-ready documents and solutions.Develop and oversee electrical schematics, P&ID drawings, control loop designs, and bills of materials.Monitor on-site installations, ensuring quality, health and safety, and technical compliance.Lead commissioning efforts, testing, and validation of electrical systems.Act as Ancillary Certifier for BC(A)R inspections and certifications.Manage project timelines, financials, and commercial negotiations with customers and subcontractors.Implement company values, culture, and quality standards in all internal and external interactions.Candidate Profile:Degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of post-qualification experience.Chartered Engineer status is essential.Proven leadership and problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset.Strong ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.Experience mentoring junior engineers and resolving project challenges effectively.Proficiency in electrical software (AutoCAD, Dialux, Amtech, Revit, IES) and BIM systems.Excellent knowledge of European Technical Codes, building codes, and regulations.Strong organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
