Business Development Manager – Local Authorities
Location: Leinster/Munster-focused with occasional travel across Ireland

About the Role:
Are you a driven sales professional looking to specialise in a high-potential market segment? Our client, a leading distributor and part of Bunzl PLC, is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead and grow their portfolio within the Local Authorities sector.
With a well-defined remit, this role is dedicated to targeting local authority business across Leinster and Munster, with significant scope for growth. You’ll have the opportunity to craft and implement focused sales strategies, build key partnerships, and make a tangible impact within the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Market and Business Development:
* Conduct in-depth market research to identify opportunities, trends, and potential clients within the Local Authorities sector.
* Develop and execute targeted sales strategies tailored to the needs of local authorities, ensuring sustained business growth.
* Explore untapped opportunities in regions such as Connaught and Ulster to drive further expansion.
Sales and Revenue Growth:
* Drive revenue by securing new contracts and maintaining existing ones with local authorities.
* Work proactively to meet and exceed agreed sales targets, leveraging innovative approaches to win new business.
* Prepare and deliver tailored proposals and presentations that align with client needs.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
* Build and nurture strong relationships with key decision-makers within local authorities.
* Act as the primary point of contact, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through proactive communication and problem-solving.
Collaboration and Partnership:
* Partner with internal teams, including marketing, operations, and product development, to ensure seamless service delivery.
* Identify and collaborate with external partners to enhance offerings and address emerging challenges in traffic and safety solutions.
Person Specification:
* A degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred, but relevant experience is equally valued.
* Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management, ideally within the public sector or B2B markets.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop data-driven strategies.
* Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently.
* Willingness to travel as required across Leinster and Munster.
